Zep-Re Academy has kicked off the first ever class in re-insurance practice in the country, with a training programme targeting insurance industry executives.
The training is aimed at bridging the skills gap in the re-insurance industry by equipping professionals with adequate skills in re-insurance.
Speaking during the opening of the workshop, Zep-Re Managing Director Ms. Hope Murera emphasized on the importance of acquiring re-insurance skills to build one’s professional profile.
“This training is expected to provide technical skills that will help grow the reinsurance practice in Kenya and on the continent where we operate in,” said Ms. Murera.
The re-insurance training programme was developed in conjunction the College of Insurance and and is certified by the Ministry of Education. “The re-insurance training we provide here is world-class. We are the only accredited insurance trainer in the Kenya, having been certified by the Ministry of Education” said Ms. Murera.
Before the inception of the Academy, Zep Re had trained over 6,000 professionals on re-insurance through short courses, and is looking to increase this number. “The Zep Re Academy and the College of Insurance will expand the training into other markets beyond Kenya as we seek to impact people with re-insurance knowledge and become the re-insurance provider of choice in the continent,” said Ms. Murera.
The industry executives who were selected from some of the leading insurance companies in Kenya will receive certification after completing the training.
